It's getting near to that time of year again, I know the half price seed sale has been going a while but has anyone seen the drop to 50p per packet yet???!!
The current range of special offers run to the 25th August. So suggest 26th would be a good date to give it a try.
It is usually after the Bank Holiday, though that's quite late this year.
Stand by ................
just checked the web site veg seeds from 49p
I visited this morning and all the seeds were still half price, not reduced here yet........:(
Last year it was on from the bank holiday weekend. I think it started slightly earlier for Gardening Club members.
Offers on website show that 50% off is still the offer through to the 2nd of September
It's on as of today for Garden Club members - am off in a moment or two to see what I can stuff into my seed boxes.
Still 50% here today.
Oxford one was 50p for GC members yesterday ..... and I didn't go of like a fox in a henhouse and buy 80+ packets of seed..... oh no....
Gar......got my members letter from local Wyvales yesterday, no mention of a members day here! Snot fair!!!! :BangHead:
Seems to be a goer here now. Got some bargains.↕ Big thanks to Debs for highlighting this, I did not expect it to start until after the bank holiday.
No worries, I look forward to it and love hearing how much everyone bought and saved! Sad eh.
I just want it to start at my local shop!!!!!!!! (Stamps foot).
I've been on nights, just woken up and am now getting impatient!! :angry5: :icon_bounce: :angry5: :icon_bounce: :angry5: :icon_bounce: :protest: :protest: :protest:
On the email I had it said it was on all seeds - didn't specify stores, and on other forums people from all round the country have been going.
Worth an investigative trip I'd say.
(I went yesterday and £16 bought me £100+ worth of seeds - all the Sarah Raven seed collections are reduced to 50p too, which I thought was unbelievable)
Ah ha ha ha ha! At last!

I didn't go quite as mad as Chriscross, merely 18 packets of various flowers, mostly Sarah Raven ones, 25 packets of veg seeds, total worth a whopping £103.86! Cost today....£21.50. Deep joy in the Deb P household today, well done Finden Wyvales, it was worth waiting for! :icon_cheers:
Ps, I meant to add this was a Garden Club members offer, so well worth joining to take advantage of this if nothing else!
A visit to Leicester Rowena yesterday - I got just 9 packets but a few goodies - a single pack of Orkado tomatoes and some nice varieties of beans and Phacelia.
@Deb P: Also spotted the chocolate foxgloves but went for the key lime sunflowers instead.
Our Wyvale had seeds @ 50p but they are all mixed in a box not in varieties as other years.
My local store still had them on the racks so it was nice choosing. In Swindon they were stuffed into boxes and it was a really problem finding anything. Bit of a scrum.
I'm so jealous! There's no Wyvale near me. I'd like some 50p seeds!
Went back to our local Wyvale garden centre and you may not believe it but they have Christmas cards and crackers on sale 29th AUGUST :BangHead:
I'm feeling positively virtuous.......Crisscross has just posted on another thread he's bought 120 packets of seeds in the sales........ :headbang:
Yes, I've limited myself to 120 packets..... although some of them are multi-variety packs..... that said some of them I've bought specifically to sell the plants in the spring.... at the carboots I do I'm always being asked for things I haven't got, like butternut squash... so this year I will sow a few purely to sell them, I'm also pushing to have more herbs and some things that sold very well this year like kale are pathetically easy to get going
Done my sums.... about 375 quids worth for 60.... 375 is more than I spend on my allotments total including any fuel used to haul manure, composts and fertilisers etc.... and that's before I flog off spare plants at a couple of car boots in the late spring...
