Title: Holiday and chat
Post by: Borlotti on July 15, 2015, 11:51:23
Had a good week in a chalet (OH called it a shed) near Weymouth, had lovely weather. Dulce was looked after by next door but had to stay in the kitchen and back garden through cat flap, as he rips up the settee.  He does not approve of holidays, but was pleased to get back on the settee.  Amazing to see the state of the allotment and that was only after a week, loads of weeding to do and not much to pick.  The only thing that is doing well is my apple tree, that should pay for the allotment fee.  Some allotments are being taken by new people. This allotment in photo has been taken so goodbye hollyhocks.  My oregano is doing well and spent ages trying to take a photo of the bees, but they were not impressed.  Peas all died, well did have 4 pods, but other people have suffered the same.  Oh well just let nature get on with it and see what produce I get this year.

Glad you had a good time Borlotti.  Sorry there wasn't much to pick on your return.

Yes, we had a few hot days and peas don't like those.  Not unless a huge amount of water is spent on them.  This is one of the reasons why I always start so early.  A few of my plants don't look so well either, but at least i  have had a good crop off all of them.  Several pound bags went in the freezer, because we just could not eat them all at the pace they came in.  What we get from now on is a bonus really.

Hope your other crops are doing right by you soon and you get lots to take home apart from apples.

Nice to chat
