Title: Whatever the weather
Post by: Mrs Ava on March 22, 2005, 12:30:40
What a lovely damp day!  Sounds like an odd thing to say, but after sowing loads of seeds on the plot, this rain is bliss, will settle everything in, including my spuds, and hopefully get everything growing....including the weeds.

Have moved most of my houseplants out into the garden so they can enjoy the showers and get their leaves lovely and clean and am sitting in the conservatory potting up tomatos.  I have so many, it is bordering on the ridiculous.  Am going to have to give lots of plants away.

Only downside to this weather, I sent number one daughter (who was 6 yesterday!) without a hood on her coat!

E-J I agree!

The plants I bedded in at the weekend are all sitting up and looking at home, as are the newly- made up pots.

AND the water -butts have refilled, which is great as I used half of one at the weekend. Two in situ at new house - wonderful!

Hope this weekend is gardening weather, got loads to do!

Mr Aqui and I were both enjoying the rain as we sheltered under an umberella on the way to the station this morning. This was definitely feeling like Spring rain, not Winter rain. Winter rain is depressing, Spring rain refreshing.

The sound and the smell were both gorgeous.

And the garden really needs some water. The top layer of the soil is so dry.

(really must buy my waterbutt soon!)

EJ ... or anyone who does this ... when should one bring them back in again ???  Is there a specific temp below which one should not leave them outside ??  So ar mine are still outside and have to say they are still looking great!  :D

And then, when to repot, and with what  ??

Wow this is an old post....2005 and my daughter only 6.  I bring my houseplants back in around the time that the clocks change.  I repot in spring if necessary, one size up using suitable compost....John Innes mixed with home made compost, or lots of gravel for cacti.  I also stop feeding them once they are back in for the winter.
