In last Round Robin seed swap there was 'scarlet cape gooseberry' seeds...???
I might be bit hasty with my search ..but don't seem to find anything about them...so any info would be nice, please.
Are the fruit truly scarlet...or maybe the foliage? Are they tall growing...or low? Etc, etc...
Hog peanuts...plenty of growing info about but don't seem to find much info about getting the seed germinate..??
Are they slow goers? Do they need any 'tricks of the trade' to get them to pop their heads up?
That's about it for now....no doubt I have more questions later on when the next batch of wonderful different things are due to be sown... :toothy10:
I was wondering at the time whether those were Chinese Lanterns, a related variety that we have in the flower garden, but the fruit is edible.

Hog peanuts? A lucky find in the box. Hope they do well for you. If anybody can get them going it is you.

Chinese Lanterns!!!??? :BangHead:
You know, it never even entered into my mind.. even I kept getting CL pages coming up on search. Oh well, time will tell what they turn out to be...seem to have better germination rate than ordinary cape gooseberries (I'm glad that I did sow those for 'just in case'...).
We'll see about hog peanuts...though I suspect they are tough cookies and will take some time...it is just a hunch...but thanks for the believe in me... :happy7:
Sorry to disappoint, but I think the Cape Gooseberry are just that, they were received in a swap from Scarlet.
Hog Peanuts sound good let us know how you get on :toothy10:
:laughing7:
Never thought of that neither...not 'scarlet' cape gooseberries'.. but rather Scarlet's cape gooseberries :icon_cheers:
