Title: Anyone tried Britpop sweetcorn for popcorn
Post by: George the Pigman on February 20, 2015, 12:42:27
Has anyone tried the sweetcorn variety Britpop? I grew some this year.
They grew OK and I left them to dry on the plant in the ground and then harvested them. I then removed the seed, let it dry out for a while  and stored it. I tried popping it yesterday and it was a dismal failure!

I was wondering myself if you could grow it here.
Will be interested in the replies after your experience.

I've not tried them, though they sound good particularly as they are grown for British conditions.
I tried to use Glass Gem Corn as popping corn as some reports said it could be used that way, but failed to really get them to pop. I even did some regular popping corn alongside in case it was me doing something wrong.

I would have thought as your Britpops were dried and stored they should have popped though.
