Title: Storing Parsnips
Post by: fitzsie on February 06, 2015, 14:29:08
Just dug up my last parsnips as I needed to clear the ground. I have 4 short but very thick parsnips but I'm not going to be able to use them all at once. What is the best method of storage for them? I haven't washed them just brushed some of the wet soil off them.

Just leave them topped on the ground, away from wind and sun. Going to store there for 2/4 weeks at least. Have some "post Christmas" clearance bags @ 5p (1Kg) from Tesco just outside the back door. Cant grow them for that!

Trimmed of foliage. Otherwise they will shrink due to transpired moisture.

Turn them into parsnip soup
(Lots of recipes on the interweb)
And freeze in batches
