I always like to experiment with over winter growing in my unheated greenhouse. This last week they have shown good growth despite the freezing temperatures outside. I think it is the extra daylight. My mange tout put on about four inches. I also have peas and spinach that I have been cutting as micro greens for salad. I think I will eventually plant them out to see how they do. My garlic is also doing well. I would be interested to hear of other people's experiences.
I to have overwintered garlic which are doing well, some sweet peas, wallflowers and sown some parsley and spinach in the borders which have started growing. I also have some little gem in pots which have survived the cold.
Too cold here to grow things but I do shelter plants such as my young gunnera, fuchsias, agapanthus and so on. This year I also have loads of large pots of bulbs such as alliums and tulips I couldn't get in the ground because it was just too wet and claggy in December.
Every single pot and trough has been ravaged by rodents so I've replanted what was left and put down sachets of poison and still they come back and excavate blast them.

This is one of the reasons I do not set out to grow stuff in my greenhouse,as my greenhouse is in a rather shaded spot.
Another reason is I go into hibernation from the end of November till I feel like venturing out!
I guess I could grow in my greenhouse as it is heated to keep it frost free.
I have it set to come on at 3°C(38°F)
So because of a combination of light ( or lack of) and hibernation (Idleness) I don't bother.:sleepy1:

Good point Tee Gee. I am lucky to have a good open site for my greenhouse and slightly elevated so even on a cold sunny day, it is nice and warm. Can't sleep in the house as my wife makes too much noise doing housework and stuff! :happy7:
My greenhouse is "closed for business" until around March. I do have frost protection but don't even go to the greenhouse during the winter. I have tried growing lettuce over winter but the leaves developed mildew/mould even though I try to ventilate a little during the day. I clean my pots. store them away in my shed in September tidy the greenhouse, and that's it. I like the winter break from growing.
