Not sure if this is the right forum for this subject. I fancy havinga go at growing show carrots for our allotment show. I have read lots of articles all about growing them in compost hollowed out in sharp sand. What bewilders me is the different fertilisers that you should add to the compost. Has anyone got a tried and tested method, I'd be greatful for any advice.

Many exhibitors grow carrots in large containers using ordinary general compost with added slow release fertilizer with excellent results.
