Title: Carnation cuttings
Post by: alkanet on October 03, 2014, 11:15:51
I mostly have no problems getting the cuttings to strike, but when they're ready to plant, instead of a tight rosette, they're all straggly. Healthy though.

How can I grow them so they keep a rosette shape?

What type/ variety are they? as some are best suited for pot/indoor culture where each stem is supported whereas others are mat forming and don't generally need support.

outdoor types like Doris and Gran's Favourite.

say the plant I bought was a tight rosette, and the cutting I took from it at the same size is loose and scruffy
