A couple of years ago this weed arrived and seems to thrive in the dark, dank space between the house and the side fence. The flowers are maroon and tiny, less than a quarter of an inch. It is actually fairly attractive, but I have never seen it elsewhere, nobody I have asked knows this plant and I can't find it online either.
The plants are up to 2 foot tall.
What is is please?
The little flowers shape seems familiar but sorry no name springs to mind.
the picture looks like a figwort Scrophularia nodosa
used to cure The King's Evil, scrofula, and I think piles, due to the nodules on the roots
Thankyou for the name. I also have this plant growing in a darkish damp corner I'm trying to beautify a little. I've decided there are other plants I prefer but it obviously is quite, tough but I don't get it any where else in the garden. Perhaps because I get to it before it seeds.

Thank you so much alkanet! It is definitely Figwort. Scrophularia auriculata aka water figwort is the best fit.
