I've decided to give up on dwarf beans pretty much, they need too much input at a tim eof year I simply don't have it to give, and I always get more productivity out of the climbing types.... I'll probably keep a couple going simply becasue I find the seed pretty, but otherwise, who's interested in taking on curatorship of some shellling dwarfs?..... This is a seperate thing to the general offer of swaps for climbing shellers, from my point of view I can get more product in terms of beans for culinary use out of a couple of Gigandas than I can out of several square metres of dwarfs.
Various types including the classic red kidney through Black Turtle and YinYang to Ernies Big-Eye... I'd probably bundle them up in sets so you can plant a few of each...
I'm a big fan of climbers too, but I'm thinking that some dwarf plants would be good for intercropping, like when my onions come out...
I had thought of doing that but my biggest problem with that is that you need to start them off basically during the dash to get stuff out to Glastonbury, then I'd have to take the plants with me (or find a plant-sitter, adn I'm wearing out my welcome there as I have to do that in May too...
Would love some please Chris. P&P????
I'd like to try some if you've got some left! :)
I'd be interested if you have any left.
OK, that's three of you, I don't have a problem splitting them up into three packs adn I'll make sure all the varieties are marked
Thanks. I don't have many dwarf beans, and if my plans for raised bed building over the winter come off, I should have more space next year.
Thanks Chris. Let me know when etc. :icon_cheers:
Just an update folks, the harvest is in and drying..... as I can easily tell the seeds apart on all the ones I've grown they're a bit jumbled together so I'm not sure how much I've got of each, but having had a few of the drier pods split as I harvested I know I've got Ernies Big Eye, Black Turtle, Red Kidney and Impero Bianco... there should be some Yin-Yang and Soldier in there too, as well as a purple podded variety and something that if I didn't know better I'd swear was a Borlotto, but I don't remember planting any of those.... ho hum....
Exciting!! ;)
OK folks, if you can PM me addresses then I should be able to get them out in the next week or so. THere are several varieties, some with rather fewer beans due to disappointing harvest, adn one (Black Turtle) where the harvest was so good that I will keep some to grow next year....
Right... all addresses in and all beans now bundled uptoo.... you'll each get a few of each Red Kidney, Ernies Big-Eye, Soldier, Vermont Cranberry and Impero Bianco, rather more Yin-Yang and Flajoly, and a decent number of Black Turtle....
Thank you very much for this. :) I'm looking forward to seeing them! (And running my fingers through them, of course, that's the best bit apart from when you first see evidence of germination. I may or may not gloat a little while I do this.) ;)
Thanks Chris. This is very kind of you :icon_cheers:.
Thanks.
Sorry for the silence and lack of beans, been stupid busy at work and my eyes have beenm giving me gip .... will try to get them out soon, they're all bundled up and sat on my desk awaiting envelopes... it's just me being rubbish, but I reckon as long as I get them out this side of Christmas we should be OK for next year :-)... once again sorry all
Not Rubbish at all Chris. Hope your eyes are better. I was concerned that they had gone astray. Take care.
Take whatever time you need Chris! I hope your eyes are feeling better, and I know none of us are desperate to receive beans right now! ;)
Have just posted them out today... you should have them Saturday or Monday .... sorry for the epic delay, they've been sat on my desk winking at me adn I've been rubbish....
How exciting!! :)
Thank you so much Chris.
THe seeds arrived today :icon_cheers:. Many thanks Chris. You're not rubbish Chris , just a busy man.
Mine got here yesterday, so that was pretty quick! And I got to play with new seeds. :)
Our post is rubbish silver leaf. I can post first class & it will take days but a friend posts to second class & it's here next day :BangHead:.
Got mine, thanks.
