http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/trouble-in-the-vegetable-patch-break-out-the-aspirin--it-nips-pesky-blights-in-the-bud-9349916.html

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago which I cannot seem to find about using aspirin or willow water to stave off potato blight.  Well it does not seem to work for me.  The plants I tried it on have been the first to get the blight, so it seem to have made things worse not better.

Ahhhh Mr. James Wrong!

The thing you have to ask yourself if taking his advice I think, is, does this piece of miraculous advice try to sell you something that makes money for James Wong plc?  Does he have shares in aspirin?

Don't get me wong ... he's charming, and talks about things that I would love to be true ... but he is constantly telling people that unusual edibles are miles better than standard British crops (Wrong ... I've tried loads of them and nothing beats the potato) and then tries to convince us to buy them under different names to the ones we know them already via his branded Suttons range.

It would be easier to spot if he actually was trying to sell Snake Oil ... but trust me, he's just a modern day con man with a lovely smile.  His branded Suttons seeds have had dreadful germination rates for me too!

If you really think that Cucamelons™ are worth growing ... do yourself a favour and buy melothrie seeds from The Real Seeds Company who have the interests of plants, environment and growers at the core of their business instead of pure capitalism and the cult of celebrity.

Aspirin is not salicylic acid.

Aspirin is converted to salicylic acid in your body, so if you want to use it to control blight, you have to take the aspirin yourself and then piss over your plants.

I actually used willow,

And yes I have blight big time complete wipe out.  We only had one rain storm about two weeks ago and no blight warning.

Sorry to hear you have had Late Blight Digeroo, and sounds like you have been particularly unlucky as it's normally fairly dry with you. Hope you are able to salvage some spuds to eat.
