Will report back later over the Garden Centres............
Well it has been stunning here in Essex, but no gardening for me, well, I have been to the allotment every day this week and sowed seeds every evening! Spent the day doing....................housework! The kids played out in the garden all day which was wonderful, and we all enjoyed lunch on the deck in the midday sun.
Sunday we have chums coming round for Sunday Roast - lamb and all the trimmings thanks to the allotment. Could all change tho....mum isn't feeling to great and has taken herself to casualty........
Yawn!
I've been in the lottie for 7 hours and just crawled out of the shower looking rather less mud-coloured!
Tired out - but I've pruned the gooseberries (wretched thugs) the buddleia (anyone need peasticks?) one of the blackcurrants, dug the runner bean trench and added loads of manure, weeded half the orchard and found a dead rat and a dead fieldmouse on the paths. Methinks someone's been putting poison out. Oh and strimmed the paths.
Didn't *actually* plant anything!
And I'm slightly sunburnt. In March. Yikes.
Tomorrow I have to shift all the prunings to the dump - wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the b&$+&^d gooseberry thorns. I swear I've sat on half of them while trying to clear the centre of the bush...
moonbells (now to write me diary up before I forget)
So far I've planted two rows of Early Pots (international kidney), and another 3 rows of parsnips (9 rows now). Planted out some little gem lettuce under cloches. Built a syphon for watering inside my greenhouse without having to carry water. Plus numerous 'tidying' jobs that everyone does.
Tomorrow, I have another row of early pots to plant, and 50 or so sugar snap peas to plant in the greenhouse. Also, will set off some more leeks. This weather is gorgeous.
Last night we cleared the garding stuff out of the soon-to-be ex-flat. Unloaded it all at the in-laws this morning, my tubs of daffs are in flower ;D
Set up my mini-greenhouse and had fun sowing loads and loads of seeds ;D Sowed more leeks (some probs with the old ones :-\) including the red ones (thanks nikkrudd!), asparagus, sweetcorn (a little early??) and 4 or 5 different varieties of tomato ;D
Tomorrow is lottie day and I will be digging and possibly sowing again too ;D ;D ;D
been edging and digging over the beds and planted fruit bushes into them.
oh, and we cleared one corner of the allotment which had some kind of storage bin/compost bin contraption in it which we didnt want - saved the wood and made the bed edges from that
now have the front bed filled with plastic rubbish/rubble sacks full or...rubbish
will have to take several trips to the dump but that's ok - i wont need that bed for a little while yet
still nothing showing from last sunday's sowing outside under cloche.
should be doing some indoor sowing - have to figure out what though - but we are now off to the pub.
priorities is everything :D
svea

Hi Emma i hope your mum is feeling much better today :D.
E.J.
Please accept my Excuses I missed that about Mum in your Posting..............So Sorry
Hope everything is Fine on that front!!
heheh, don't be daft Mike, no need to apologise. She is a lot better, was having trouble catching her breath and after dad leaping off this mortal coil with his heart, she thought better to be safe than sorry. They wired her up to an ECG, she had chest x-rays, asthma tests, blood tests and goodness knows what else, and they told her to go home and rest, she is as fit as a fiddle, but exhausted. She has just started working again after being away from paid employ for 36 years and it is looking after autistic 20-somethings. Exhausting her mentally, physically and emotionally. She is coming to stay with us for a week or r&r and tlc...now to bribe the kids to leave her alone and let her rest! Thanks for the wishes. ;D
Oh EJ :)
That great to hear that everything is fine with your Mum.
I think what you must try........................................
Take : ;) ;) ;)
Mum to the Lottie Sit in the Sun on a Nice comfy
stool with a Cup of rosehip tea and copy of KG.........
What do you think!! :D
ah well, she isn't a gardener, more of a craft person, but I will get her up to the plot, if only to show her what I have done. ;D
