I bought a franchi tin of dwarf beans for 50p many years ago but when it can to the right time to sow them I had lost the tin.
I found it again and decided to try germinating the seeds, I bought it about 6 years ago and the sow by date was 2000. I did not hold out much hope. I thought if I got a few I could save the seeds. Well looks like I am getting about 70% plus germination. Not far from the 80% declared on the tin. And short of the 100 % which I like to get from bean seeds.
I have carefully rejected any seeds which have gone soft and kept washing them through in case of mould and to wash off something yellow which was coating the seeds.
I think I will put the rest of the tin in the freezer, not sure they will do as will once exposed to the air.
Ditto here too, they have an orange coating .
Good result :icon_cheers:
