How old are the trees, some take some time to get going.    What about snails, I have found quite a few on my trees.

Some apples can be biennial - very little one year then loads the next.  Actually our Bramley has fewer flowers this year than normal, but as it is a large standard tree, there will still be plenty of apples.

We have a pear tree that doesn't like standing water.  We had most of the garden under water 2 winters ago and last year there wasn't a single flower on that tree.  The same had happened once before, when we had flooding.

Did your trees get flooded?  Maybe they are still young and only just start bearing?  If you find that they are settling into a biennial habit like some do, you can help by thinning fruit, so that the trees don't exhaust themselves one year, then need the next to recover.

We're on clay to.  Last year we had a goodish crop, but few flowers this year.  Although we have not been flooded we have had a lot of rain and the ground is still very soft.  Our trees are at least 20 yrs old so will give extra tlc as some of the goodness in the soil may have been washed away.
