Does anybody know of any good growing charts that show how many days from sowing a crop will take to maturity? I think it will help in having veg at the right time and over a longer period.
If you look at website from across the big salty pond you will find they give details of precise times from sowing to harvest.
I think our weather is much more fickle and it is a matter of luck how long crops take to produce.
I tend to sow little an often to spread out the crops and then cross my fingers and hope.
Problem is...'time to maturity' varies with day length and temperature, so early spring-sown crops take a lot longer than the same crops sown in late spring for example. There's a good chart in Elliot Coleman's 'The New Organic Grower' which demonstrates this very well for salad lettuce. The required sowing dates to give a crop every two weeks throughout the year are surprisingly irregular.
have a look on teegees site http://www.thegardenersalmanac.co.uk/Planners/Fruit%20&%20Veg%20planner.htm
Many thanks for the help.i must say that tee gees chart is amazing and just what I was looking for.
Thanks for the plug Tim, glad you liked it Ber
I nearly suggested it myself but thought it might have been construed as ' spam'
All's well that ends well!...Tg
I have a home made chart based on the varieties I grow but have found this generic one which seems decent and has a lot more information links down the column on the right side.

I don't think I've ever grown "charts", is it one of those new south American root plants like Oca and Yacon?
Tee Gee, in all seriousness, without your site and this place I wouldn't have even attempted half of the crops we have grown and enjoyed :)
