Title: onion tops
Post by: small on March 22, 2014, 15:09:21
I've just sorted my onions in store, and several have long green shoots. The onion bulb unuseable, obviously, but what about these shoots? Can I chop and use them for flavouring stews etc?

Yes, definitely.  Use them like you would spring onions.  All parts are edible.

...YES  :icon_cheers:...and if you 'plonk' them into soil...they will grow much stronger tops and MORE to eat...AND..if you don't plan to grow other onions for seed saving, you can let them flower too and offer bees nice nectar party.. :icon_cheers:
