Hello all.
I started Golden Acre and Greyhound cabbage seeds off and the vast majority germinated However, having transplanted them they have all started to die. I've never had this problem before - any thoughts?

What symptoms do they show other than just dying?
Hello Goodlife.
They grew a little, some have collapsed, the leaves on most of the them have curled down and have gone pale.

Sounds like they are " damping off" which is usually a combination of bad moisture / temperature /light problems.
It is quite a common problem and I think I would be right in saying that we all have suffered from it at some time in our gardening experience!.......I know I have!!
Tell us about your growing conditions in terms of the temperature your plants are in, how moist is your compost is and where they are located.
A picture would be handy!
I look forward to your reply..Tg
They might be sulking because of the cold nights, did you harden them off a bit. :drunken_smilie:
Planted outdoors?
Hello All.
They have been/are in an unheated greenhouse. The compost is a peat base multi-purpose type and I've tried to keep that moist. I'll see whether I can get a picture posted tomorrow.

They could be just flagging from the heat. Especially if the roots got a bit damaged during transplanting. My unheated greenhouse has been hitting 35C over the last few days.
I would say start again
We are going to have a cool/chilly few weeks as due to have an easterly wind, so theres not exactly any hurry! with a cold april coming up
They grow very well outside, from seed, in modules. Just wait for a bit warmer weather and always keep net over. Sounds like yours have got wet feet and damped off. Weak growth and too wet= pale seedlings that are prone to flopping and dying
Plenty of time
Hello all.
Thanks for your comments. It seems that they have probably dampened off. I've taken a couple of photos and will upload those tomorrow (it seems to take me an age to sort it). I'll also start some more off, but keep them indoors in the spare room which is cool, but fairly reasonable temperature of 10 to 16 degrees. It's strange how you do things the same as you've always done them, but every now and then the results differ.

The pale leaves is probably sun scorch!
Even winter sunshine particularly through glass can be quite fierce.
Try again, and keep them out of the sun. My first ones were just beginning to show yesterday. If they damped off you may have kept them too wet, or in too much of a warm moist atmosphere.
