OK you lovely peeps, I know someone out there will be able to help me.
My daughter is getting married in a few weeks time and I have been tasked with 'doing' the Order of Service sheets for the church. So far so good - have sorted the hymns, prayers, cover design and all that side of things, but am desperately looking for a short (could be modern) romantic quote/poem or even a verse from a hymn or the bible, to print on the very last page as a surprise for the happy couple and their guests. Yes - I've looked/googled at so many websites recently that I've become brain dead and cannot function anymore. What I need is something short, romantic (not slushy) and easily understood by everyone who will be there (I suspect that there may be some attending who probably won't understand unless it's in mobile phone TXT version!).
Has anyone got a quick idea or used a quote themselves for a special occasion ?
Pleeeeease help a desperate old gal.
Love to you all
Granny
How about some Shakespeare:
'Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments. Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds or bends with the remover to remove o no! it is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken'
or simply
'love is patient, love is blind etc...' from the bible, no idea which bit though.
I'm thinking of using that sonnet (no. 116) at our wedding - either in the order of service or as a reading. One of my favourites.

Hi Granny,
I put a couple of verses inside the card for my sister and her husband for their wedding. I shall ask her to dig it out and I'll forward it to see if it's of any use.
I agree with the Shakespeare - it's lovely :)
At my wedding we had "for those in peril", fight the good fight and Rescue the perishing" ;D
Wahahahaha Wardy!
We had follow you follow me, by the band Genesis played, hearing it on an organ was interesting!
My sister wrote a poem for us, was lovely and so very personal, but then our wedding was very small, immediate family in a registry office in Maidstone, mind you, the registry office is in the Archbishops palace which is a stunning setting! ....and I was 8 months pregnant!
Ha ha ha Doris... we had 'Whiter shade of pale' Procul Harum. 8) Mind you I think that was based on Mendlesons 'air on a G string' :-[ sounded fantastic on the organ. ;)
The passage in the Bible which is about Love is
1 Corinthians 13 Verse 1 to 13
Hope you manage to find something.
:D :D
Got me thinking, so........ (I believe the first is actually an Eskimo Love Song but you don't need to mention that!)
You are my husband, you are my wife
My feet shall run because of you
My feet dance because of you
My heart shall beat because of you
My eyes see because of you
My mind thinks because of you
And I shall love, because of you.
or
If you can always be as close
And as happy as today,
Yet be secure enough to grow
And change along the way.
If you can keep for you alone
Your love as man and wife,
Yet find the time to share your joy
With others in your life.
If you can be as one
And walk through marriage hand in hand,
Yet still support the goals and dreams
That each of you have planned.
If you can dare to always go
Your separate ways together,
Then all the wonder of today
Will stay with you forever
On this link there is a whole list of "suitable" poems and quotatiosn for weddings (provided by Lincolnshire County Council would you believe!)

Good Luck anyway.
