Title: Can you take cuttings from mahonia bushes.?
Post by: gazza1960 on March 10, 2014, 16:13:55
Having moved to dorset I wanted to get the same bush that mum had back in middlesex, but I've yet to find a supplier in the area to buy her a new one..........

That said,I've just spotted down the road  3  mahonia bushes and wondered if you can take a cutting
From a branch and cultivate that or does it have to be a root stem ...?

Any thoughts

I would have thought that the Garden Centre Group (ex Wyevale) would have them, there were the plant of the month not long back.  There is one just outside Wimborne.  Though it is not a very big one.

Cheers for the feedback,I will try to cultivate a couple of cuttings although waiting a year to bring them on wasn't what I intended but it would make a change for me to nurture something over a long period.

Meantime I'll try and source the wimborne stockists.
