I have recently took possession of a number of chickens, the plan is to keep them up on my allotment in a movable coop that i
will keep moving around so that the little darlings will weed and fertilize as they go around. How long after I have moved them from
a patch can I start planting veg ?
Straight away really, just dig in
Are they fully secure and fox proof. It is always a concern of mine for those who keep them on the allotment need to be living in something akin to fort knox
Ive heard that it takes 6 months for shicken chit to rot down fully, but I generally dig in after a few weeks of being piled up. Im sure digging in straight away would be fine though.. :glasses9:
I must admit that we leave ours for a year to rot down, but that includes a fair proportion of woodchip from the runs and Aubiose from the coops. Our chickens' free-range area has fruit trees in it, and I guess they benefit from the droppings straight away.
