Post by: Digeroo on February 25, 2014, 10:03:22
Garden Centre Group (ex Wyevale Blooms etc ) have reduced their tunnels atm, has any one any experience?  Do they blow away easily?   Does frame rot.

If it is the Gardman 2 m x 3 m one at £80, they do stay put if you bury them and earth them up a bit.

I have 3 in various stages of decrepitude.  On one, the cover has perished in the sun, another cover has ripped at the seams, the third one it appears the bolts bent in the winds and the frame disassembled (I am reconstructing with new bolts from Wilkos).  You will get 2 seasons out of it then use it to make a walk-in fruit cage is my advice.

Many thanks Ellen.  Your calculations mean they cost about £40 per year.  Which makes them quiet expensive.

I will have to think whether I will get £40 of value out of it.  My quarters gas bill has come in £250 under budget so I have a little to spare.   Certainly a walk in fruit cage would be excellent as well.  I have a huge red current and the birds have a field day.

I have more of less given up on tomatoes.

You anyone like to comment on whether I can get £40 of value out of it.
