Glasgow Allotments Forum will be holding their 3rd GAF POTATO DAY on Sunday 23rd Februry 2014 at The Pearce Institute, 840/860 Govan Road, Govan, G51 3UU, 11am-3pm. (Close to Govan underground station)
All are welcome, so please spread the word to friends, family, schools, work-mates and fellow gardeners. Once again, we will be joined by Glasgow Food Network who will be running a seed-swap table and some workshops. The cafe will be open for tea, coffee and home-baking(fabulous).
This year we have 45 varieties of seed potato, the majority of which are Scottish grown; the remainder will come direct from the Sarvari Trust in North Wales, whose work into breeding blight & generally disease resistant stock is world famous. You can again buy from as little as 1 tuber to larger amounts, although the day is more about variety than quantity.
I hope the day goes well, sounds like everyone will have a super choice of tatties. Amazing work being done at the Sarvari Trust :happy7:
They are great for buying and trying new varieties as you can literally buy one seed spud. Pity my local one was cancelled - now wondering where to get my spuds. Online I have to buy in packs and even my local GC only has them in bags by weight. I like to try a few new spuds each year and only want a couple of spuds..
Hope you find somewhere close by :happy7: There are a couple of varieties I'd love to try this year but as we don't seem to have any potato days down this way so it doesn't look promising! I guess I have slight envy for those that have local days :happy7:
Same here Jayb :sad10:
I used to go to Bowburn, Co. Durham but sadly they've stopped doing potato day & there isn't another that I know of in the north east
Debs :crybaby2:
