Title: Hi, new here
Post by: Shoyu on March 16, 2005, 00:11:38
Hi all

Yes I know you get "hi I'm new" posts all the time, but it seemed rude not to do so!

I don't have an allotment, at the moment I'm just going to see how the garden works out but I can already see that we're going to outgrow it. We are both vegetarian so could probably eat a small market garden clean in a very short time (hmm - now we just sound greedy). The thing is we LOVE good food, so we are working in the garden and getting containers ready. When we run out of space we may have to look around for an allotment, looking at peoples posts about waiting it may be agood idea to put our names down now.

Anyway I'm off now as I'm starting to waffle. I'm very new to all this (but very enthusiastic) so I'm looking forward to learning lots of new things from you all.

Welcome Shoyu  :D

I'm with you on the good food ;D I'm in to all the organic veg and organic meat, but I have to admit, one of the main things that got me in to it in the first place was that it tastes better!

I've only had my lottie 4 and a half months now, but I am loving it. Hard work to start with, but so satisfying. And seeing your first seedlings emerge from the compost/soil is just an amazing feeling! So sign up for one now!  ;D

Hi Shoyu,
Good thing you found this place if you plan on growing veggies, welcome.

You didn't say how big your garden is but you'll be amazed how much you can grow in a small area. Several things, like beans, tomatoes etc. grow up, so they take very little space. Other things, like cabbages, take up more space but they are cheap to buy. One courgette plant takes up a bit of space but gives high yields. So, you need set your priorities when it comes to space-yield-cost to buy.

Maybe you should sign up for an allotment if there is a waiting list, when one becomes available you can decide whether you take it at that time or stay on the list a bit longer.

Good luck.

Nice to meet you, Shoyu!  How about sharing a few of your favourite veggie recipes with us?  I'm not a vegetarian but having an allotment means I especially  enjoy recipes that make full use of our own produce and am always on the look out for something "different"

Hi Shoyu and Hi Kitty!

I'm still new here and have found everyone here to be ready with a warm welcome, good advice and some absolutely terrible puns.   ::)

Watch out for how addictive A4A can get, which is amazing really when you think about how we all enjoy doing stuff that involves being outdoors!

Enjoy!

Clare.
