Title: Mincing machine - uses please, other than mince
Post by: Debs on December 15, 2013, 18:37:50
Myself & the significant other, went to a sausage making workshop (Groupon offer) & were won over by thoughts of getting a mincer.
Apart from mince & sausage, what other uses does it have?

In general the meat specific mincers are as said sausages and mincemeat.

Other types of mincers can shred chip dice etc but for a lot of meat the specific mincer is best.

We use ours mainly for sausage fillings, but you can also make things like falafels and veggie stuffings.  These work far better in a mincer than in a food processor.

I have a porkert mincer, the very good heavy os type and it has a few different screens. I use it for seville oranges for marmalade, does a stonking job. Also for apples for chutneys as well as buying the `on offer` pieces of beef to make my own mince, which is obviously low fat as I know what goes into it. That alone can re-coup the cost of the mincer
