What Bargains!!
Well done Tulip-23!! ;)
I am afraid it is the case here as well.
About 10 minutes away from where I live there is a very "posh" garden centre. Cannot mention the name here. They have lots of personnel and therefore, lots of overheads, which is not good news for the customers.
The plants are VERY expensive !! We are talking £25 for a simple rose plant.
A little up the road from there is a small nursery run by the family of 2 or 3. All plants are a fraction of the price. We paid £3 for a clematis multipala on saturday. This would have cost £30 at the more expensive shop.
Let's grab a bargain where we can ! :D ;D
Marianne :)
Hoi
yes thats true it pays to shop around
You get what you pay for..... but Cheap is not always Bad!! :D
I only purchase healthy plants. It's not worth buying because they are on their way out.
But the larger shops are not always the best ones !
:D
I always look for healthy, if I can bare to spend any hard cash on plants that I could grow from cuttings or seeds! Am so mean when it comes to buying plants, so I do love a bargain!
Most expensive plant I have ever ever bought, and it was my wedding anniversary pressie last year, was a black stemmed bamboo. It only had 6 shoots, but they stood 12 foot tall and it cost 60 quid!! Had a look at it today, and around the base, 16 new shoots coming. Planted to hide the shed, and the way it is growing, it will hide the shed and home a family of pandas! ;D
Well done Emma!
I cannot understand why certain plants are so very expensive! Sometimes I believe we are being ripped off by garden centres! I's rather take cuttings or grow from seed, however long I have to wait for the end result!
Well done on that bamboo! I have heard that they are very strong growers and you have to keep them in control ! But as you say, that will suit a family of pandas !
;D
Tulip.it may be an English joke, but I have to say................................do you ride tandem?

Have done but thats another Story Check your PM

Dont tell Rosebud OK haha!!
A friend and I used to ride a tandem from Oostegeeste to Leiden (which was easy enough) and then back in the evening (which was almost impossible against the west wind and horizontal rain).
Now that we're in East Anglia we find that the car makes better progress against the same wind and rain!

Holland has some of the nicest people I've ever met.
It may be because they are all gardeners. I've never seen so many house plants!
