Title: Has jack been?
Post by: Jayb on November 22, 2013, 08:12:48
Brrrrrr, clear skies overnight here and a light frost on the grass this morning. Second frost of the season and have to say it looked pretty, hopefully it will be a sunny day today!
Yumm looking forward to roast parsnips this weekend!

Yes, several times.  We had a very slight brush with ground frost which frosted leaves on a few bean plants in September (teaches you where the cold spots are in the garden)  and several proper frosts since.  At the moment all the roofs are white, it is very cold but sunny.  Lifts the mood!

Haven't touched the parsnips yet.  But one of the winter squashes (that had to be taken in immature) has a funny spot.  It will be roast squash here in the next few days.

We have had several too.

You are right about the cold spots, I lost some Nasturtiums leaves in September in exactly the same spot where my potatoes suffered the worst in May.

Not that bad last night only a touch of ground frost, so nothing on the roofs, just a few whitened blades of grass.

Chilly wind but Jack ain't expected for a couple of weeks yet. But I bet he comes Sunday just to be awkward, as I am selling a lot of stuff off at a car boot sale. Early start and thermals on.

Took me ages to de-ice the car on Tuesday morning! Been tucking it down the side of the house since in the hope it kept clear, but not had one since.
Hopefully the sprouts and snips will be even nicer now :toothy10:
