Everyone ok? I hope so. Not too much damage here in West Essex. Saw a few broken trees on the way into work, no power at the office so came home from work. In the space of going into the office and coming out twenty minutes later, a driver had managed to come off the road and end up sideways in a ditch!
Hopefully Mr & Mrs Ace are ok too as I see the Isle of Wight took the brunt of the harsh winds, topping 99mph!
250,000 homes and businesses without power throughout today. On the news this evening it was reported to now be down to around 127,000. Apparently our (work area) power loss was due to the wind blowing over a huge construction of scaffolding onto power lines in East London. Power is still off as far as I know.
Anyway, hope you're all doing ok and didn't suffer too much damage.
Yes all okay apparently in Hastings. A few broken fences and so on - but by the sea we get that in an average winter anyway.
We had a lovely sunny day in North Wales. Just the odd shower, but a really good day, considering....

My evening trip to the north island was cancelled and my gate got damaged when it got blown past the catch and it ripped from the hinges. Fixed in ten minutes. I have a little maplins gizmo that is a mini weather station. The wind peaked at 95 mph but it was only a very short gust. Loads of roads blocked with fallen trees, so I could not get to the nursery which is a 3 or 4 miles from the Needles where the strongest winds were measured, but somebody out that way told me there was nothing wrong apart from tons of leaves everywhere so a big rake up today and a nice bonfire. Still nice and warm here, but I shall have to wear my big boys trousers today and leave the shorts at home.
I spent whole day getting garden secured and stopping stuff flying away...but we didn't get the storm!!
Bit of rain over night and slightly breezy but that was it.
One weather man said that midlands didn't get the storm because we were right in the middle of it..the eye of the storm is calm...?!
I relief that we escaped this time...but feel sorry for rest of the country who truly don't have any cob webs left on their 'corners'.
Our village had no electric as a tree fell on the overhead cables ,there were a few fences down and at the Lotty a few sheds were over ,other than that not to bad not like some poor souls .
On Sunday I was travelling back across Germany, Belgium, France, to St Pancreas (as my German daughter calls it) and got one of the last trains to London Bridge to stay the night with Greenwich daughter (repeated announcements that trains would soon be cancelled).
Next morning was supposed to scoop up young grandsons on half term to take home to East Sussex but all trains cancelled all morning, website down, OH reported no electricity in our village.....then it was restored......eventually he drove to Greenwich to fetch us through solid traffic, taking 3.5 hours; off we went to Sussex but on spotting M25 still solid and unmoving, made huge detour and got safely home. Have just lent camping gas cooker to a family outside the village who still have no power.
Walked in Alexandra Park in Hastings just now with son and his wife - huge tree down over main entrance.
In the morning took young grandsons for a walk as they were killing each other, and found AMAZING quantities of sloes! Therefore had to buy gin to put them in.
We were worried that damage could occur to our new greenhouse, summerhouse and old poultry unit. Fortunately, the storm wasn't too bad here and apart from a few more windfalls, our garden hasn't suffered at all.
I had a sleepless night worrying about losing another greenhouse.
Watching the news, it looks like London and the IOW had the worst, but here in Guildford, right in the middle it was a non event, just a few extra twigs on the ground.
