I don't usually go to the cinema apart from One Direction with granddaughter as she just loves that group and actually it was better than I expected (I'm too mean, and its expensive, still getting over the price of bottled water and sweets, although we did manage to smuggle some sweets in, but granddaughter wanted popcorn, and it was meant to be a treat). I wonder if anyone has seen One Chance as think it sounds good. I don't watch X factor but apparently it is the story before Paul Potts got his chance on X factor and after seeing him on Alan Titchmarsh show, his voice was fantastic and I am not very musical thought I may and see it. Anyone else seen it yet.
I don't go to the cinema, ('don't do buildings I can't find a smilie for gaga :toothy10: ) however I do remember Paul Potts on Britains got Talent. He's fairly local to us so the film has been covered on local programmes. It looks pretty good and while I doubt James Corden can sing Paul Potts certainly can. It seems to have some good reviews. So smuggle some choccies up yer jumper and go for it :happy7:

As for the "reviews" I take no notice of them. I would think it's probably quite a good film but most of the "critics" tend to like pop music as opposed to opera (or any decent music).

The prices the cinema charges for bottled water, popcorn and sweets is ridiculous and of course the children want them. If I go on my own not bothered about eating or drinking as the films are quite short nowadays and the entrance fee is expensive. Some cinemas have been known to search peoples bags as you have to buy the treats at the cinema. I must be getting old, although I don't feel it, because I remember 2 films being shown and girls/ladies coming round with trays of ice cream in the interval. Dad used to take me on Saturday night and it was a whole evening. Can remember him laughing so much at 'Three men in a boat' that he fell off his seat. I read the book and then he took me to the film (happy memories). Now costs about £20 to take grandchild to pictures and the film only last about 1 to 2 hours and that is it. Normally Pizza Hut afterwards so quite expensive. I do get a reduction when I flash my OAP pass, but do think parents/grandparents accompanying young children should go free or half price as it is not really enjoyable to sit through their choice of film, although must say I quite enjoyed 'Happy Feet' and One Direction was much better than I thought, Mum took her the second time as once was enough for me.
That is terrible, how can they legislate what you eat, it sounds ridiculous to me and as for searching bags.. I wouldn't go..this is almost impossible to believe for the UK. I am completely stunned XX Jeannine
Went to see the film tonight with granddaughter, and the screen showing this film was nearly empty, apart from about 4 people. We enjoyed it very much, and we had popcorn which cost a lot. We did manage to smuggle in some maltesers. Going to see Philomena next week, which has a good review.
