I can't believe how well my squash have done this year - especially Delicata.
I've stored over 70 of them in the greenhouse for the moment and I have at least another 20 or
more at home. I planted the same amount of plants of Delicata as I did of butternuts
but I only got about 10 butternuts.
The Tromba d'Albenga also did really well, despite some rude remarks from
a few plot holders!
That's a fine haul, Squash. :blob7:
Not been bad here either. Squash are just such a super food to have, last all winter, need no special storage conditions or electricity, stay fresh for months.
I have always been disappointed by Delicata, rather than sweet they stay blah here and I have given up growing them. Guess you have plenty for telling us how their flavour develops and which recipes you find best for them. Most people rave about them.
After years of exotic squashes of all description being grown to perfection by you, your fellow plot holders should be better educated and not make rude remarks about trombos. They taste very good and store well too. It's their loos - just watch how many will grow trombos next year though :tongue3:
Brilliant crop. Much better than mine although I didn't do that bad. Mainly the dreaded sharks fin, not as many as last year but much larger. Others must have given up as they didn't like the competition.
Wow, they all look super, what a lovely crop :sunny:
Wow, that is a bumper squash crop. Well done Betty. Will squash be on the Menu for the entire 'Hungry Gap'?.
Whoooaaaa....70!
I haven't had that much luck with delicate neither...though I'm definitely have another go next year...again...

Sliced and fried in a little butter...... :icon_cheers:
:icon_cheers: Yummy!
Sorry for typo - should have been 'it's their loss' Freudian slip or what??? :toothy10:
Thanks for the cooking suggestion for Delicata.
Fantastic! I hope I can do even half as well next year!
Well done, a great haul.
I have done well too, I have my tromba d'albenga stacked up in the porch it is becoming something of a tourist attraction. I have a particularly large one on the windowsill.

Tromba certainly do attract attention!
I was wondering if I could rig up some sort of contraption that I could hang
them from in the porch. Some of mine are massive too.
