I built one for my daughter many years ago.  Not a great work of art but it is very sturdy and she enjoyed it.  I never got round to fixing the roof on, but when I started to do it she complained because it was easier to access the rooms without it.

Are there any forums for building dolls houses? Though perhaps we ought to have a winter hobbies section, this forum gets very dull during the winter.

Some of our wonderful jokers have unfortunately gone very quiet recently.

Yes there are forums for dolls houses but I was hoping to find "family" that was doing it right here. I know it is very popular in the UK. more so than here.

You are right about the jokers too.

Maybe we could start a "what do you do in the winter post" I did it a few years ago and it was mind blowing to see some of the crafts folks did. I tried to start a quilt project but it seemed to fizzle out.

Maybe one of the mods could get us a crafts sticky or something, we have recipes , drink, pets etc .

Aw Jeannine.  I spent all my Lent ciggie money on material and then some more.  Made the first friendship star blocks as instructed and it sort of fizzled out.  I even bought a nice cutting board when I was in Toronto in May, the one I got off Amazon was rubbish (but cheap).  Am still waiting for the second and subsequent block instructions if you want to carry on come the winter.  Due to your moving house, setting up a new garden, John not being too well etc I felt you had more than enough on your plate to bother you.  My stuff is still sitting there waiting.

Oh thank you.  Did consider doing my own thing, but then it would not have been a mystery quilt.  No rush though, winter isn't upon us yet, mind you felt like winter when I left but its lovely and warm your side of the pond at the mo.

Good that you'll continue with the blocks Jeanine.  I made a few of mine but found they all came up different sizes so I must be cutting the pieces with minor variations.  Gave up for summer but, with a view to getting going again in winter, I'm now hunting for patchworking classes in my area so I can learn to cut straight.

Given I've be sewing clothes for 45 years you'd think I could cut a few patchwork blocks!  Once gardening grinds to a halt I'll be making some new dancing outfits.   Other than that, I'll be restoring bits of furniture found in brocantes and might start painting all my kitchen unit doors ready for a change of wall colour next spring when the new damp proofing should have worked and the walls will be dry and ready to repair and prime.

Good luck finding doll's house enthusiasts.

I like the sound of a what you are doing winter post  :happy7:
Mods can sticky posts, but we can't make a new section, you would have to ask Dan about that.
