Title: mushroom harvest
Post by: peanuts on September 25, 2013, 10:18:07
So far this has been an excellent start to the mushroom season.  Since end July, we have been lucky enough to 2kg of cèpes, 2kg of chanterelles, and two days ago 2 and a 1/2 kilos of parasol mushrooms up in the mountains. I had the feeling we would find these.  It had been the right weather,  and it was an isolated area high up,  three hours walk from the nearest road.  You might be able to see the shepherd's cabane we walked to, in the middle of the photo.  He was a lovely man, and it turned out that he had been born in our village, about 30 miles away!  He now farms elsewhere, but always brings his 300+ sheep to this area for the summer.

lucky lucky you. I dehydrate porcini and the taste gets so intense, however haven`t been able to find any this year or last, since the eastern europeans were seen gathering for sale. So frustrating
