I’m not sure if I speak for other newbie’s here but I am struggling to comprehend posts containing abbreviations, I know I am guilty to a point of same BTW and will try not to be so lazy in future. :)
This gets so frustrating and annoying to the point where I lose interest in the posts. >:(
Here are a few examples although I’m not looking for their meaning as the posts are now history. ::)
Grump over. :P
B&Bs ::)
BF&BÂ ::)
E&OE ::)
KGÂ Â Â Â ::)
PCÂ Â Â ::)
Uhps ::)
Ah Roy, I also have problems understanding some abbreviations. The first one I didn't get for yonks was LOL. I kept thinking my chum was sending me lots of love! Turned out she didn't love me at all and was merely laughing! Pah.
Roy,
I haven't got a clue as to the meaning of any of those letters but we could give them the following meanings.
B&Bs = Bed and Breakfasts ???
BF&B = Best Food and ?? (your guess is as good as mine)
E&OE = Eat and over eat ????
KG = King George (as in potatoes) ???
PC = Personal computer ??
Uhps = Until he passed away ???
;) ???
BF&B = Blood Fish and Bone?
KG = Kitchen Garden? (Magazine)
And I would assume that PC is Personal Computer.
I'm as lost as you with the others :-\
E&EO = errors and omissions excepted. But I don't see a need for it on here.
KG = Kitchen Garden.
Uhps = Under huts potatoes sprout.
BF&B = ****** Fools & Bodgers.
hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahah
QuoteUhps = Under huts potatoes sprout.
Works if you have enough gravel.
Hi Roy glad you voiced that , thank you , i do not know what these are very confusing, like Emma i thought somebody loved ;D ;D Sadly they diden`t they were only laughing at me ::). Let us all stick to the real language eh!! so much easier all round. ;D
It does get very annoying and frustrating these days when text talk seems to be taking over! Next they'll be teaching it in schools. >:(
I put b & b as I have a b & b ;D
hehehe Wardy.
Tons of it Ken, absolute tons! ;)
Just cleaned all mine with a toothbrush. All 68 tons.
OK ( sorry - alright) - I promise that I won't use E&OE again, even though it has been common currency in legal & general use since 1932. At least.
For Roy & Ken, I'll use "I have offered this information, believing it to be true, but I am wide open to suggestions as to how it might be improved or corrected"
And that rules out
PS
PM

etc
ie
et al
eg
GP
BC etc.??
Oh, sorry - "and other things of the same kind."
Things like LOL, which I have never understood, I just accept as a smiley.
OH, OTOH - and other things of the same kind are, for the oldies (the older generation), a good test of the imagination?
hehe! ("I am having a quiet chuckle!!")
....................dumb blonde moment coming up...............what does E&OE stand for?
ken kew knew!
See, told you dumb blonde !
Not so dumb Emma ;) Ken said "E&EO = errors and omissions excepted. But I don't see a need for it on here." which to me is E&OE ???
So what does E&EO stand for ??? and what does it have to do with Legal and General ???
Oh, sharp one Roy - still got your eyesight, I see!!
Sorry Emma.
OH = other half
OTOH = on the other hand
Yes - I used my imagination!!
