Hi folks, sorry I am not about much it is a bit wierd around here now, I hardly get a minute to relax but am alive and kicking, just maybe not so high.
Good news/bad news..
Bad news is John continues to decline and is starting day care shortly. He is wandering now and gets past me like a pro so it is hard to even take a shower.
I am giving up my lottie plots after this season which is heart wrenching but I rarely get there anymore and have been paying someone to weed etc this year.
Good news is my daughter has bought me the most posh greenhouse I have ever seen for home. 10 x 12 safety glass ,2 auto openers, black painted aluminum with a black lower panel all round it even has fancy little pointy things accross the roof bar. It is high si I can hang baskets from the roof or grow a vine. So posh I am scared to get it dirty.
They are also building me a long row of raised beds. I won;t have a lot of room but enough to play in the dirt at home. There is a plan to put my soft fruit bushes is pots at the side of the house so all should be well.
Does anyone know if I can move my asparagus plants, theu were planted last year as 1 year old crowns.
Another good news bit.. I have splurged out on just me and had a dolls house kit sent over from the UK. I have no idea when I will find the time to build it, probably through the night which is when I do my house work these days. I am very tired but am managing to cope .
I hope everyone on the site is doing well, I do so miss our chats but I am so out of date now I don;t know where to start.
Lots of good wishes
XX Jeannine
Good to see you will still be able to play in the dirt a little .
I hope you find things a little easier when John starts day care or at least the break does you both good .. it is so hard caring 24/7
All the best
Well done Jeannine for somehow finding the time and energy to keep in touch with us all. We miss you and think of you often. You are never 'out of date', and we will all appreciate hearing from you whenever you can do it. Your greenhouse sounds just great, and the raised beds too.
John is lucky to have you, and you him, too.
May I echo the sentiments of Peanuts and daveboi. It is lovely to hear from you and you are always in our thoughts. Wow, have you got photos of your new greenhouse. It sounds really really lovely and I am envious. Look after yourself.
Thanks for the welcoming replies, always makes me feel good.
I think my photo privileges have run out here, my credit card number changed this year so it would not have gone through but if anyone wants to see the picture of my greenhouse it is on the opening pager of the link below. It is called The Parkside

Lovely to hear from you. I hope you can get some time for you when the escape artist is in day care. Just keep going a bit at a time, glad you can get your hands dirty :happy7:
Manics, I have to laugh sometimes, my "escape artist" proposed to me last night and after I said yes he simply said " oh good now I am going to bed" He did to, in his own room.
I rather fancied I might get a sparkly new ring today but no chance he had completely forgotten about it this morning.

Good to hear from you, does your dolls house come with a green house? I love my greenhouse maybe even a little more than the plot. Keep us posted .
There is one available but I didn;t buy it maybe when it is fished I can add the conservatory and greenhouse...maybe
Hi Jeannine
Lovely to see you here. So sad that John is deteriorating and this means full time carers roles for you. Greenhouse sounds awesome and raised beds will make such a difference.
Hope that you both get some respite and to recharge those batteries.
Good luck lovely

HIII! Nice to hear from you...been wondering what have you've been up to.
..getting proposed!! :icon_cheers:
Doll's house...ohhhh...something that I would like to do too...will you be doing it into certain style/way or is it going to be your 'dream house'?
And new GH to 'play' with too...
Even with the 'bad news'...sounds like you are making best out of the situation and that is all one can do..
Jeanine, I think of you every time I look at my winter squashes and imagine many on A4A do also.
Very sorry to hear about your husband. I'll pray for your strength and patience through this stage.
The greenhouse sounds like a perfect solution to no lottie--and you get to garden through the winter this way--without driving anywhere. Perfect!
Here is a possible miniature garden until you get your dollhouse built (though it probably doesn't grow miniature weeds):

Lovely to hear from you. The greenhouse looks amazing talk about posh. But I can already see all your squashed climbing out through the windows.
The day care sound a great thing for John. My mother kept on wandering off and at one stage was found wandering about in the middle of a busy road. She liked to go walk about but then could not find the way home. It is sometimes hard trying to make the right decisions.
Hopefully having your gardening space close at hand will make it easier for you.
Echoing what others have said, it really is good to hear from you
I'm glad you are finding a little 'You time' it can't be easy. So sorry to hear John is deteriorating.
Love your new greenhouse, lucky girl :icon_cheers:

Absolutely, thought you might like to hear Sibley squash are doing well again this year. Also from you is Bon Bon and one the dog ran off with the label so I'm not quite sure which one although I think one of the French sounding ones. I had my first taste of Ruby Queen sweet corn today, simply gorgeous! Thank you.

What a lovely thing to have happened, Lovely man :icon_cheers:
Your new greenhouse is a veritable palace. Get yourself a couple of comfy chairs in there and you and your newly betrothed can enjoy relaxing in there in any weather. You could always install "central heating" (bottles filled with water to warm up the g/h in winter).
Nice to see you posting again Jeannine, although I'm sorry to hear about John.
The greenhouse is lovely, you will be able to grow really nice things in it.
The squash seeds you sent me (forgotten the variety and am not on my own PC
so I can't look it up) are doing really well. I think they are something 'river', my
memory is terrible.
Did you ever get your puppy?
Betty
Thanks for giving us an update, Jeannine. Hopefully the day care will help you both even if it's hard to be apart.
Your greenhouse looks wonderful- hope it brings you loads of happy hours' pottering.
Hi Jeannine.
I've not been here for ages, and am so sorry to hear about John, sending you hugs from Spain :3some:
May your wonderful sounding greenhouse prosper!
hello Jeannine, sorry to hear about John, make sure that you take care of yourself while you care for him.
Your greenhouse sounds awesome!!
Thanks for checking in with us, we miss not having you around as much,
Take care
I am sorry to hear that John's condition is now much worse, Jeannine. As you know, I looked after both my parents who had Alzheimer's, though, not both at the same time.
You certainly need a sense of humour and I loved reading about John's proposal. I still smile when I think of my Dad pointing to his ear and miming "I can't talk out of this ear". He mimed it several times too and when Mum and I laughed, he did too. I don't know whether it suddenly dawned on him what he was trying to tell us or if he just joined in because we were laughing.
I am pleased that John has finally agreed to go to the Day Centre too as it will give you a break....and you will need it, especially if he starts getting up in the middle of the night and wandering off. You will be able to have a doze in your lovely new greenhouse and catch up with missed sleep.
Take care of yourself Jeannine. It's lovely to see you back on here posting again. xx
Good to hear from you Jeannine. I can really only agree with what others have said. Sending you a hug () xx

Nice to hear from you girl, but I'm glad your getting help, you'll be no use to John if you make yourself ill, all the best Kev. :sunny:
Just a quick 'Hello' back Jeannine...
Thanks for keeping in touch with both the good news and the bad.
Healing feelings...
Nigel.
