Title: Rain Dance
Post by: Digeroo on September 03, 2013, 06:43:50
The forecast is for rain on Friday.  The last forecast rain did not materialise.  It hardly rained in July/August at all, so our soil has set like concrete.

Though even with the lack of rain many of the tomatoes on site have blight.

So I need some suggestions for effective rain dances, to ensure Fridays rain does not pass us by yet again.

Will gladly do the rain dance/start singing...... but not until we have cleared our 'to burn' pile..

Looks like you have two more days.

Personally I like to compost all my weeds, and give anything which might root such as dandelions to my rhubarb.

I really need something to get my green manure excited.  I am very getting tired of watering.

We got a bit of drizzle so better than nothing.   But it is nowhere near enough to break up the concrete that our soil has become.

The plants will enjoy having wet leaves but no much will have reached the ground.

So much for rain most of the day.

Lottie Lou, you could add "Hard rain's going to fall", "Purple rain", "Raining in my heart" and when the floods start you could add "Bridge over troubled water" and "Rivers of Babylon"

Sigh!.............Every time I see a dark cloud I think 'now it's going to rain' but the darn things just disappear over the sea. This evening I hoped again, but there was just enough drizzle to wet the paving slabs - they are already dry again  :BangHead:. On 27 August it rained long enough to fill one water butt, but other than that I've been using precious tap water all summer to keep my veggies alive.

So ANY dance, song or witches abracadabra for rain would be soooooo..... welcome please.

Tricia

But it's been a lovely summer, hasn't it?  :tongue3:

Could you please do specific rain dances for where you live. Last time someone on here did one, it rained for months  :toothy10:
It's already started here, and cold all of a sudden , long jammies and fleeces  :toothy10:

Well a big thanks for anyone who was singing or dancing for me because we got some unforecast rain in the night.

Perhaps if I do a sun dance for you Manicscousers you could do a rain dance for me.  We have had more or less no rain for two and a half months, and the little we did have just baked off in the heat.

The raspberries are simply drying up and falling off the plants.    The soil is like concrete, the grass has gone brown.   And my shoulders are drooping almost to the floor with carrying cans of water.
