I haven't used them - but a warning about all raised off the ground level growing techniques ... you need to water things a lot more than if they're just stuck in at ground level.

I realise that for people with mobility problems then raised beds/containers are preferable ... and in many ways they're great for those of us without bending problems ... but you have to weigh the convenience of weeding, planting etc. without bending over with the inconvenience of having to collect a lot of water and physically get it to the place you're growing on a very regular basis!

I would suggest salads.  Perhaps spinach and parsley.   I am a fan of Russian kale you can eat it at any size and it grows fast.

It depends on what you want to have in them next year.   I would suggest getting strawberries in during the winter, I would go for a variety which will hang over the edge.

Thanks for advice, these tables will be near 2 rain buts, so if we have rain it will be ok,
have strawberries already to put in, had a small bed with some in and have been potting up the runners from them,
will look into Russian Kale, don't know of it,
thanks

We've bought some of those things that screw on the end of 2 litre pop bottles, cut the end off the bottle and pour water from a can into them. Gets the water to the roots in our raised beds and we can feed through them, too. We also sink pieces of drainpipe next to plants and can heavily water into them, too  :happy7:

that's a good idea, I have some of them, use them in pots and hanging baskets.
