Thought I would pick a couple of Sweetcorn to see how they were doing this year,as last year was rubbish.
Was pleasantly surprised by these at 9" (225mm) long

While I was at it I picked a tomato from a few seeds I received from an online reader
Without trying I got up to 9oz (255g) so heaven knows what I would have got if I had restricted the truss to one tomato instead of four.
This is the first two trusses on one plant ( the 3" pot is to give some sense of scale)

Have saved the red tomato for seed and I might have a go at the biggest / heaviest tomato next year!
Plus I am hoping to get some seed from the States & Canada that are potentially much bigger!
Roll on 2014
Wow they look fab.
This year has made me very happy.

I see what you mean, but with me it is the need for something to look forward to!
Just like sowing a seed and looking forward to the eventual harvest!
Sweet corn looks smashing, nice size toms too :happy7:
Must admit with the large types I grew this year I couldn't bring myself to restrict to one tomato! Must try harder next year.
Looks great! :icon_cheers:
What variety of tomato is that?
I'm so cross that I decided not to bother with sweetcorn this year after the last 2 sunless summers! :BangHead:
QuoteWhat variety of tomato is that?
As I said above it was a variety I received from someone on an online forum.
As with most seeds I save of unknown origin I usually name them after the person who gave me them.
In this case I have named it Angelina!
Found a larger one today;
