Title: PSB plants eaten! :-(
Post by: pigeonseed on August 03, 2013, 10:22:37
Went on holiday for 4days, came back to find all my psb plants eaten to stumps by snails! Can't believe it. If I'd known I could've brought them indoors.  :sad10:
Too late to start more off, or should I have a go just in case?

If everything had gone except a bit of stump - you might look for rabbit footprints or droppings!

I don't understand what has happened with my brassicas this year, I sowed quantity of cabbage, broccoli etc, and either it never germinated or it did and was eaten by what I suspect is slugs. Do you think it is not too late to sow winter cabbage and PSB???? I was disheartened and thought it was too late.

I think we might well be too late, but worth a try!

It won't be rabbits, planetearth, in my walled back yard. And the silvery trails are a dead give-away... They can really mow through an awful lot of small plants in a short space of time.

I went on holiday for a week and all mine were droughted by my house-sitting mate. Attempted first aid but only 2 plants have made it. B&Q are doing strips of 8 for £1.98, plus wsb if you fancy a change. Shame to go there but needs must!

Sorry Lottie Lou - only just noticed your kind offer! Thanks but I had some seed already. I sowed them and we'l see whether we get anything off them next year!

I would buy plants if I see them - I haven't been in our B&Q for a while maybe they will have something. My leek plants are even worse than normal this year as well - like little green hairs. So I might be tempted to buy plugs of them as well!

Perhaps you should not give up on them. I had a set completely slugged.  Only two part leaves between 12 plants.  I left them under the netting where I had also put some slug pellets, and to my great surprise they now have leaves again.   :icon_cheers:

That's good news, Digeroo.

They were probably a bit bigger than mine - mine were really seedlings and they died after their mauling. I've had bigger plants lose all their leave from caterpillers and still come back. But this time - R.I.P.!
