Can anybody recommend a mortar raking kit for a 115mm angle grinder. I know there are different ones but which do people prefer and which are best avoided. Many thanks.
I hope this info. is useful KT.
I did a very large job involving repointing a while back. Obtain a couple of stone discs for your angle grinder and run two 1/2'' deep lines close to the brickwork. Just cut the vertical mortar the same way w/o damaging the brick edges. Chip out the mortar using a wide chisel. Buy a 'Roughneck' or similar mortar gun, mix up your muck on the sloppy side, fill your gun & off you go. Smooth your mortar lines as usual using a short length of 1/2'' thick timber.
I don't know how much repointing you're planning to do, but this method is very quick.
Best of luck.
Thanks for your reply. I have already done a job using that method on 10 square metres. I have another 2 jobs booked in and am considering purchasing one of the raking kits as more work looks like it is coming in for similar jobs. Just registered as a sole trader for property maintenance and home improvements so looking for making life easier.

You cant buy better!
Incidentally, 26 years says "registering as a sole trader" does not make life easier!, but at least what you tread in is of your own making. Good luck!
