I know that blueberries like an acid soil and usually I put a peat dressing around them. I was wondering if leaf mould would be good for them
Oh yes....leaf mould is GOOD :toothy10:
Blueberries are woodland plants so anything you can add to the ground to imitate those natural conditions would work.
Thanks Anya. Did you ask me for something to do with the lime tree by my plot? Or perhaps I have dreamt it

No..I didn't ask to do as such...just mentioned that the flowers are nice as 'tea' :icon_thumleft:
We're going to try mulching with mushroom compost this year, Shirl. No leaf mould left. We've a brilliant amount of berries and I'd just started harvesting when we came on holiday. I just hope there are some left in a fortnight. There's always a crop of something you miss and everythings so quick this year
Would anytime be ok to mulch

Oh!!....just check the PH with mushroom compost before you use it..usually it is quite heavily limed stuff and blueberries don't like lime.

Yep....as long as the soil undernearth is moist...
I've made my own mulch for my blueberry bushes this summer by filling one of the 'Dalek' bins with chopped bracken, peat, grass clippings, straw, chicken's straw bedding (with plenty of poo), spent hops, rock dust and BFB meal...it is all 'cooked' down now and I shall put it in good use next spring with some added ericaceous feed..giving the containers the final touch with some brown pine needles :icon_cheers:
Ohhhhhh...they are going to love it :toothy10:
