Title: ideas for running cuke along roof
Post by: lottie lou on July 31, 2013, 10:47:02
Sorry another daft question.  Does anyone have any idea how I could run my cuke along the roof of (inside) my greenhouse please.  Are there any clip on gadgets available to attach to frame and tie either string or a cane to/through?  Any alternative suggestions very welcome.  Thank you in advance.

I've got tiny gaps in the structure of my greenhouse, I feed baler twine through and knot it on the outside, so there are strings running at eaves height all round, I twizzle cukes (and morning glories) round these, tie in tomato canes and sometimes stems...is this idea any good?

I've got small support brackets across the eave that I can slide cane on...it is easy then tie string/cane on to this for plants to climb up to and then carry on tying further along if needs to be.
There is GH bolts that you can buy too that has metal rings/loops end of the bolts for tying strings to or slide cane through..would these work?..

I know this won't help much, but mine;s racing along a grapevine and loving it! :)

There are also those cheap plastic clips that are used to fit bubble-wrap as a kind of double-glazing affair. I have a few of those around the roof I tie string to, to use to train the vine or to tie to the top of tomato-sticks when a plant threatens to get out of control and heads for the roof. They are surprisingly sturdy..... Hmmmm .  Let me have a look.....

Blmey! Hooks too now....

The cropped nuts and bolts from Two wests are brilliant as you can add them on to a green house. Great firm lucky for us just down the road :happy7:
