Black leg on Asters
I have sprayed with a Fungicide with no luck
Any answers.
Are they perennial asters or annual ones (callistephus)? If perennial you could try moving them to a different place next year, dividing them, or propagating a clean, possibly a fungicide treated piece in an attempt to obtain healthy stock.
Annual asters also known as chinese asters are lovely plants but many gardeners report trouble with what is either referred to as fusarium wilt or black leg disease. Unfortunately there is no remedy once the plant is showing symptoms but earlier pricking out along with more airy growing conditions can at least help grow strong plants that could be able to cope with fungal desease better.
I grow the single chinese asters as the bees and butterflies find them irresistible when in bloom. So far I have had minimal trouble with wilt and long may that continue.
It may be that like blight, mildew and other fungal plant pathogens some years are worse than others. We all know too well how frustrating it is when plants carefully tended start to keel over. :happy7:
