Earlier this year I bought a little packet of Fresh tomatoes from lidls. I think they were labelled WILD WONDERS and contained a variety of cherry sized tomatoes of different colours. I saved the seeds from the green striped one. I don't know the name of it but it's doing really well in the greenhouse.
Its a type thats green when ripe.

Oooh, they look good :toothy10: , I love GWR tomatoes.
Are they cherry size or more Green Zebra?
They look great!
I have 90% of my toms this year grown from saved seed, mostly from holidays in SW France where the tomatoes in summer are fabulous. I buy them on markets, usually from little old people who are obviously selling their own homegrown stuff. This year I have some big beefsteaks growing, beefheart types and some smaller salad types.
I love green tomatoes, they are usually so refreshing in the way of taste.
These are bigger tHan cherry size. I just wished I knew the variety. When I saved the seed I called them green/yellow as the other in the pack looked like tigerella. It's such an exciting way to sow seeds as you never know what to expect!
What method do you use to save your tomato seeds antipodes? I soaked mine for a short time then put them on kitchen paper. when it came to sowing time I sowed the seeds along with the kitchen paper.

Well, some of them I was on holidays so couldn't use the soaking method - I just spread the pulp on kitchen paper and let it dry. But if I can I let them soak until they go mouldy (absolutely gross, it stinks) then rinse well and you are left with just the seeds. Dry them well them keep in an aluminium packet. I never know the names of the varieties! it's like "large yellow" or "sweet salad type" or "green with stripes" :-)
I have at least two long varieties growing this year which I am quite pleased about as they never work for me!
How true to type do the seeds come? I tend not to save seed on the basis that I don't want to end up with rubbish. So I pay for seeds and get rubbish anyway ...
