Title: Garden grazer?
Post by: Jayb on July 10, 2013, 11:02:28
I Love this time of year, summer fruit and veggies starting to ripen  :icon_cheers: My morning munch today - strawberries, cherries, cherry tomatoes and mange tout. There are a few raspberries calling my name too!

Just wondering how many other lottie and garden grazers are here? Or do you take everything home?

If there are less than 4 strawberries to pick, I eat them straight from the bush! I have LOADS of alpine strawberries this year (they grew wild, never planted any) and I just eat them off the bushes too, they squish if you try and transport them. Also tend to nibble on mint, raspberries, gooseberries, peas of course, french beans too and cherry tomatoes except this year I seem to not have any (no labels... think I gave them all away accidentally). I've been known to eat radishes too, just with a bit of a rinse.

Yeah, all of a sudden dinner becomes whatever was on the plot ready to pick...... raspberries in my muesli  for breakfast, and in yoghurt for pudding after dinner.... first tomatoes today, will pick some spuds today for potato salad tomorrow.... need to look up my varieties to work out what's the most sensible one to pull.... probably a Kestrel as it's a second early supposedly...

Don't know why but I've never thought of nibbling on mint or fennel seeds, nice one.

Oooh I had a whole mini Cucumber the other day too, so refreshing.

Lol, I can just imagine you munching on your cauli Goodlife :toothy10:
Haven't got any at the moment but one of my faves are the stems on cabbages etc just before they go stringy-hard yum yum.

I love to graze. I grow wrinkle crinkle cress so there is something tasty all year, they are seeding at the moment but the green pods have a nice little bite to them.  Loads of things to eat at the moment.

My raspberries do not get anywhere near any muesli, they go straight into my mouth.

Blackcurrants, white currants, red currants, carrots, the lottie is currently like a sweetie shop.

Oh, I thought you also had a rabbit that got into your plot, and I was hoping someone would have a solution. Any idea for rabbit traps?

But to stay on topic. I do eat a few bits while in the garden, but at the moment there's too much soft fruit to eat for breakfast, so lunch has to feature soft-fruit as well. :icon_cheers:
