Title: A bad year for asparagus beetle?
Post by: Annemieke on July 07, 2013, 08:37:01
Last year our asparagus were overrun by beetles. We did our best to kill lots of them (just squeezing) but of course plenty escaped their fate. I cut off any bent stems as they came up.
This year - hardly any (how do I get one of these smilies here? Dragging or copying doesn't seem to work). Saw a few predator insects, but so I did last year. Hardly any eggs either, or caterpillars.
Could it be the weather - how do others fare? We're in Somerset.
Or did all our last year's efforts bear fruit?
What are your experiences?
Ta, A!

Even better here - no sign of a beetle this year, devastation last year - I'm thinking it was because I squished them all so effectively, but maybe I'm just lucky. I'm very pleased, anyway!
