Title: Beetroot question
Post by: Digeroo on July 02, 2013, 14:28:04
Never sown in modules, but my onions are rather slow.

How many seeds per module?

Many thanks

I sowed my beetroot couple of weeks ago in modules. The modules are quite small..24 cells per full size tray and I put 4 or 5 seeds per module.
I don't have to weed any out but when they've grown into sturdy little plants, I plant them giving 6" between each plug..plenty of room for spreading and once the first ones are still small but big enough to use..those gets pulled out for eating the rows get thinned out same time. What is left I allow to grow larger for pickling....I like big slices out of jar, little ones just slide out of sandwich and I end up making mess on my shirt.

I got 48 cell module trays and planted a few trays of a few varieties.. One seed per module - they grew really well and when they were a few inches high i planted them out.  They took no problem at all.

Thanks for your replies.  I have put one in each corner of the modules.  This should give me up to 48 beets.  The yellow seed seem to be very small so I do not think there are many seeds in the clusters.
