We have had so many and they just keep on coming!!
We are just eating them fresh, really think its a waste making them in to jam

As this is the first year with our plot, we've only ever had a couple of large pots of strawberries on the patio. When we took over the plot there's two large strawberry beds....we've got more berries than we've ever had. Yesterday my better half made 11 pots of jam, and it's great stuff.
Think we will make jam next year if we get even more
Try Nigellas strawberry crumble with ground almonds to thicken the juice. Just google it. Way to use the less perfect fruits.
My OH insisted be doesn't like strawberries :drunken_smilie:. We picked about 1 kg yesterday. I found a huge perfectly ripe one & asked he would like a bite of my cherry :icon_cheers:. Now he wishes we had a full bed of them :BangHead:.

Nothing better than home made jam on toast in the winter to remind you of the fantastic taste and feel of summer

I made Jude and I a Strawberry Milkshake last night, the slightly soft fruits along with 1/2 pint of milk,....whizz it up then strain the pips out,now add 2 large scoops of good vanilla ice cream and 200ml of single cream and sugar to taste and blitz again.....pour into a large glass and add yet another
scoop of strawberry ice cream .....2 straws ...and suck hard till you get brain freeeeeeze....god that hurts ..but its so good !!!!!!
I only use blemished Strawbs in this as the good ones get eaten as im picking them.....yum !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gazza
lovely mushed with a fork and frozen in smallish portions. Makes a lovely strawberry jelly mixed in strawberry jelly. Very m and s and great in winter as the taste is just like fresh strawberry. Also frozen and mixed in with frozen rhubarb to make lovely fresh compote in the grey months
also can freeze as they ripen and make jam later
I have found that strawberries freeze even better sprinkled with sugar, and seem to thaw well without going too soft and soggy, if you are going to serve them whole with cream and meringues, for example.
We've had loads already this year and I'm off to pick some more soon, but they don't last more than a couple of days before turning to mush or worse, it just goes to show what they spray them with to keep that long in the supermarkets. :happy7:
:icon_cheers: I found 3 ripe ones amongst all this...
I have peach envy :icon_cheers:.
