I came across this seems to be from Canada.

Suggests attracting aphids with yellow card coated in petroleum gel. Cheap enough so thought I might give it a try.
Never thought of petroleum jelly. Read about it ages ago but they used yellow plastic plates with some sticky stuff on it. It is supposed to attract white flies. Have tried to work out what sort of sticky stuff to use that is cheap. Petroleum jelly is cheap enough for me to try.
I put a sticky yellow card in my cold frame and white flies did stick to it. And I stuck to it!

Thanks for that link. I can vouch for the detergent trick. Fairy liquid isnt just for hands that do dishes! My Grandma specialised in pot plants and submerged them into a bucket of soapy water to" drown them overnight ",if afflicted with white fly
I am finally starting to find some immature lady birds.
