Title: Charity begins with......................toilet paper???
Post by: Squash64 on June 24, 2013, 16:05:54
We hold a Summer Fayre every August and the whole amount of
the money we raise is donated to charity.  This year it will be Macmillan
Cancer Support, the County Air Ambulance and a children's charity (yet
to be decided which) Compared to many allotment sites we are well-off
and have everything we need.

A remark was made today which really upset me.  One of our plot holders
complained that there was no toilet paper in the men's toilets and if we
didn't give our money to charity we would be able to buy toilet paper.
(we do buy toilet paper but it is not kept in the outside toilets, but inside
the pavilion)

I know it sounds really trivial, but this bloke seems hell-bent on trying to
wind me up. I try to avoid him but it isn't always possible.

Sorry, just needed to tell someone.  I can't discuss it with my husband because
this man upsets him even more than he upsets me.

Is this the same bloke who wanted the hand driers?!!!
I really wouldn't rise to this remark Betty, as you point out many sites do not even have toilets at all, and you do provide toilet paper. We do the same on our site, committee members take turns buying it out if association funds and they clean the toilets too! If he doesn't want to contribute to supporting charities that is up to him, but the committee make the descisions about these things on behalf of the plot holders, of course not all of them are going to agree with whatever you decide. It says a lot about that individual if that is really what he thinks, but don't let one persons opinion get you down mate!

Goodness me - some of you established allotments really pamper yourselves don't you?  Toilets and a water supply indeed!

It just goes to show that with some people the more you give them the more they ask for ... I imagine that if your allotment site had a pub with a free bar he'd be complaining that it didn't have any champagne ... only one way to deal with people like this and that's to let them know in no uncertain terms how ridiculous they're being and then ignore them.

Maybe he just has an odd sense of humour.  I think I would buy a roll of cheap paper and put hang it on his allotment.  Or hang up some newspaper or a sprig of dock in the gents.  Perhaps you can ask him to go on the rota to ensure the 'gents' is up to scratch.

If he is the same guy who wanted the hand dryer perhaps he wants a loo with an integral drying facility as well.

I used one once it is an interesting experience. :tongue3:

I agree with squeezeyjohn.   Surely he can provide his own loo paper.  We have to provide our own buckets. :BangHead:

If he does not want to contribute to the Summer Fayre that is his decision.

Buy in some Izal - do they still make that stuff!!- and decorate his plot with it!
Absolutly b*****y useless :tongue3:

Honestly Betty your members do not know how lucky they are. They need a reality check :BangHead:
I was thinking about you today and hopeing that the dog man problem had settled, and was going to message you, now this.

This happens BECAUSE YOU ARE DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB!!  people like him cannot cope with that so that's why they react like they do.  One member used to wind me up a lot with his critiscisms and I came to the conclusion that if he liked what I did I would start to get worried!

I always stuff some in my pocket before I go to the allotment, and I don't suffer from hay fever, I do sneeze when cutting the long grass.  I think I will complain to Enfield Council, as I want expensive soap and hand cream in the toilets.  Joke.  I am so grateful we have toilets, and don't have to pee behind a bush.  How difficult it is to buy your own.  I just don't believe it. Think he was taking the p.ss.

have some fun Betty - get a load of supportive plot holders to gather outside the block when he nips in and when he comes out throw loo rolls at him, tell him he can wipe his own A***E as no one is feeling charitable enough to do it for him!

Buy in some Izal

You can't beat the old 'slip and slide' to encourage people to bring their own bog rolls especially if you charge 5p a sheet.

Thanks for all the replies and for making me smile.  :happy7:

Yes, it is Mr Electric Hand Dryer, how did you guess?!

It's quite surprising to me that someone who obviously holds
the committee in such contempt, stays with us. There are supposed to
be over 1,000 empty plots in Birmingham, surely he could find the toilet
of his dreams on another site!

PL, all is quiet on the Dog Man front (fingers crossed) I put
notices up telling people that the Council rules do not allow people
to walk on other plot holders' paths and it seems as though it has
sunk in.  I'm not holding my breath though.
Thanks for thinking of us.

Hello Betty, it's no good, I've been wondering since I first read your message and now I've really got to ask - why don't you keep  lav paper in the lavs? I was reminded in Thailand of having to queue for the regulation 2 sheets before going into a cubicle....  :bootyshake:

Completely agree with the others that the man sounds a nasty piece of work, tho.

We do keep it in there, but if it's all used up nobody thinks of
going and getting another roll from the pavilion.  There isn't anywhere
in the outside toilets to keep extra rolls.

Mind you, I quite like the idea of making this man queue up for 2 sheets...... :toothy10:

I fail to understand why, in a group of completely nice, normal people, there are always one or two complete tits that have to be unpleasant, or whining or selfish!!! must be sod's law! We are fortunate to have loos but there is no paper! Just have to have a tissue in yer pocket!
We also have a communal picnic area with a BBQ. A couple pf weeks ago a fairly new plot holder reserved it for a get together. Unfortunately the group in question lunched, then stayed all all afternoon "on the turps". Result at 6pm they were drunk as skunks and being loud and obnoxious. And then they had the nerve to go and pee on other people's gardens because they were too lazy to go to the loos!!! And to top it off, the guy had the nerve to ask if he could use the communal shed (which holds about 15 people max) for a party of SIXTY people!!! Obviously he got turned down and was cheesed off about the refusal.   It's just a lack of basic politeness I am afraid.

      The Solution to your Albution
is when hes reaching for paper
have a team primed and ready
       with an Ar**hole detector scraper

       snap on connecting pipes
with a dick van dy ke chimney brush
can cleanse the issue once and for all
and when he legs it...you can cherp "whats the rush"

So Dear Betty, dont fret over toilets
get this system installed is my word,
spend your money quite wisely on charity

and have an outhouse thats minus ""One Turd"

       Gazza..... :tongue3:

I would suggest making him the Official Monitor of the Gents (OMG for short..) he would be tasked with inspecting the state of the current loo roll on a daily basis to replace it when the last 2 sheets have been reached (last 2 sheets to be taken off the roll and neatly hung on a hook provided just for this purpose.) Old loo roll to be returned to the Pavilion and sold, funds from which to be added to the Loo Paper Expenditure account - NOT Charity collection money - created especially for this purpose.  And he could have a large OMG Badge to wear. Alternatively he could wear it as a pendant from a Loo Chain of Office :tongue3:

Given to you freely as a suggestion to be put before your Committee at your next meeting :glasses9:

Cheers! Lish

I have never even had a site with toilets, he does not know how lucky he is. We just had to hold on until we got home or if the tortoise got too inquisitive we nipped behind a bush with a big dock leaf.

Love it Lish!!!  Maybe (I say this just to be charitable!) he did not know that spare paper was kept in the pavilion.  Making him OMG makes sure he knows where to find it ..........................  :tongue3:
