Title: Random pics
Post by: Digeroo on June 22, 2013, 23:58:07
This pic came up on the random cycle,

Thought this was a good design.  I need something to support some netting.

Not at all,I also put 2 cross pieces on top to stop the net sagging in the middle

You can do a lot with that basic concept of cage building.

A neighbour made a robust octagonal gazebo-type cage about 4m in diameter for his fruit bushes.  By gazebo, I mean you could stand up in it but thre was a prop in the centre.  The downside is that you need a not of netting but if you've got that, it's very useful.

 Yes just burned a hole in the bottles with a gas soldering iron cut 6 pieces of plastic pipe about 2.5ft pushed them into the corners and middle about a foot - bottle on top then cut top pipe ever so slightly bigger to sprain the frame so the pipe didn't drop out, but the net holds it all in place
PS I had a load of 17mm plastic pipe given a couple of years ago that's why I used it but cant see why it wouldn't work with canes or anything else as long as you can get slip a bottle on it
